ACs at Madhya Pradesh hospital non-functional, patients bring their own fans

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the government-run Seth Govind Das Victoria District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur has been in a dire condition since the past few months.
Patients are forced to bring their own fans as the air conditioners at the ICU are not functioning for the past four months.
When India Today TV brought this to the attention of the officials of the state health department, they cited lack of budget as the reason behind this.
However, 20 days have passed since then and the condition of the ICU is still the same, with people bringing table fans to a critical place like the ICU.
MLA of North Central Assembly constituency, Abhilash Pandey, took stock of the conditions of the Victoria Hospital recently. He assured the patients that steps would be taken to resolve the issue as soon as possible and people found guilty of the dysfunctional state of the ICU would be punished.
Dr Manish Mishra, the hospital’s civil surgeon, said that similar conditions persist in hospitals across other districts, including Mandla and Dindori.
